Nalini Sookdeo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW-C) by way of the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.
Nalini completed her Bachelors in Family Science from the University of Maryland in 2012 and earned her Masters Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University in 2015.
Nalini has experience in community mental health, where she worked with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma or just trying to find their place in the world. She is an eclectic therapist that mainly draws from the following therapeutic approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Behavioral Dialectical Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma-Focused Therapy.

Specialties/areas of interest: Depression, Anxiety, Processing Trauma, Life Transitions, Women’s Issues, Domestic Violence, and providing an affirming space for LGBTQ issues.

Nalini’s approach to therapy revolves around an empathetic and open-minded approach that creates a relationship to every session. Each patient is the expert in their own personal experience and the therapeutic space is for them to explore their mental health needs with Nalini acting as a guide to assist in that journey. Nalini is passionate about improving access to mental health treatment for all as well as helping individuals understand that therapy can be a safe space for people to be their authentic selves.
Nalini Outside of the Office
Spending time with her dog, Dexter. Reading murder mysteries and other fiction novels. Traveling to warm destinations. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle via hot yoga and lifting weights. Crafting and working on her modern dollhouses!
