Meet Amanda

Amanda Castellano is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Loyola University in 2017 and Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University in 2019.

 

Amanda is passionate about working with others to connect with their emotions, gain new perspectives, and recognize their innate abilities. 

Amanda has experience in community mental health, where she has worked with individuals who have been impacted by family conflict and violence. Amanda has supported clients in navigating challenging relationship dynamics, setting boundaries, resolving conflict, and communicating more effectively.

Amanda's Therapeutic Approach

Specialties/areas of interest: Depression, anxiety, perfectionism, self-esteem issues, Narrative Therapy, life transitions (such as relationship issues, problems at work, academic concerns) and substance abuse. Amanda also loves working with young adults and supporting them through the challenges of this phase of life (e.g. adjusting to college, entering the workforce and developing independence.) 

Populations: Teens and Adults, 18+. 

Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with your anxious thoughts? Do you find that you criticize yourself and almost always feel worse afterwards? Amanda helps her clients manage their anxiety by introducing them to different ways of thinking that help them to set more realistic standards, generate compassionate self-talk and behaviors that promote a healthy work-life balance. 

 

Amanda informs her practice with tenets of Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Person-Centered Therapy. While in session with her, you can expect a collaborative approach to therapy which values empathy, authenticity, and connection.

 

Amanda strives to provide her clients with a safe and comfortable space for growth and healing using an empathic demeanor, active listening and offering non-judgmental feedback during sessions. Her clients describe her as supportive, non-judgmental, and a good listener.

Amanda Outside of the Office

Outside of the office, Amanda enjoys reading, baking, and traveling. Amanda is also a dog lover and fostered her first dog this year. She is hoping to adopt one of her own soon!
