Meet Christie
*Christie is currently accepting new clients!*
Christie is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT) who has 10 years experience working with individuals, children, and families in English and in Spanish. She is a Board-Approved supervisor and certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
Christie establishes a therapeutic relationship through which clients learn to communicate and advocate for themselves in relationships with others. As a DBT therapist, Christie helps clients balance patterns of acceptance and change; this assists in reducing problematic behaviors and establishing new behaviors to manage stressors. Christie also teaches her clients skills to increase self-awareness and expand ways of responding to chronic stressors. These skills fall under the following themes: emotional regulation, distress management, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. In her work with clients, Christie reinforces choices that are connected to clients' value systems in order to stay motivated and working toward their personal goals.
Christie's Therapeutic Approach
Christie believes that through personal research and increased awareness, clients will better understand the nature of their responses to triggers. As clients increase their understanding, they are better equipped to make choices that are connected to their value system and lead meaningful lives. Christie is a highly ecclectic practitioner with experience and training in a widely diverse set of approaches. Some of the theoretical approaches that she draws from include Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and Functional Family Therapy. Christie works with clients to understand their vision of what "therapy" looks like, but also challenges this through the use of humor and collaboration with her clients.
