Darby's Therapeutic Approach

Do you find that entering adulthood has brought new challenges and changes that are difficult to navigate? Perhaps you're feeling alone, scared, or overwhelmed when considering your future or even daily responsibilities. No longer having someone telling you what to do constantly can feel freeing, yet also terrifying. Maybe you're struggling with your relationships and want support to work through them. Suddenly friends are scattering and on different timelines than you, or you're repeating the same conversation with your partner, but nothing seems to change. You are not alone. I was once there too, and I can help you reclaim yourself.

I will help you gain confidence to take control of your life, rather than feel like life has control over you. I believe in taking an active role in helping you identify stuck points. I use an eclectic, client-centered approach, pulling from modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to help you dive into your thought patterns and find what techniques work best for you. I will equip you with the skills needed to reach your goals.

As a clinician, I focus on helping teenagers and young adults learn about themselves as they adjust to major life changes, often for the first time. I understand what it is like to feel isolated or like you are navigating uncharted territory and aim to enter your world to lend some extra support while you gain your footing.

In addition to working with young adults, I also focus on working with clients who are seeking support within their relationships with others. Maybe you are tired of feeling as though your relationship is one argument after another. Or that your partner doesn’t seem to understand why certain things are hurtful even after you have tried to explain. Perhaps you feel frustrated that your friends are so quick to ask you for favors all the time but never seem to show up for you when you need support. Maybe you have family members that leave you feeling awful every time you interact with them. These are far too common of situations that I would love to help you overcome.

You can expect our sessions to be interactive, enthusiastic, and engaging. I will foster a warm and welcoming environment that also brings humor into the conversation. Through rich dialogue and reenacting real life scenarios/conversations, I will aid you in building insight into your own emotions and the roles you play in the relationships in your life. We will work together on increasing empathy towards those you care about and gaining the ability to see situations from multiple perspectives. By working together as a team, we can overcome whatever obstacles may be holding you back from achieving healthy, happy, and loving relationships in your life.

Darby Outside of the Office

Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my friends and going to Kansas to visit family. I spend free time reading historical fiction, watching true crime documentaries, baking, crafting, and playing with my cat, Pooh Bear. Exploring new cultures and traveling is one of my biggest passions. I am also a big sports fan, and in the fall, I spend every Sunday watching football.
