Jillians' Therapeutic Approach
Specialties: Depression and mood disorders, anxiety and generalized stress, bipolar disorder, substance abuse and recovery, mental health stigma, life transitions, low self-esteem, and self-doubt.
Populations: Ages 16+
Do you ever wonder why you feel caught in a spiral of negative thoughts, feelings, and behaviors? Are you struggling with any combination of depressive, bipolar, anxiety, or substance abuse issues? Do you find yourself constantly comparing yourself to others? Sometimes life can feel overwhelming—especially when you’re trying to hold everything together on the outside while struggling internally.
If you’re struggling with substance abuse or recovery, Jillian encourages working collaboratively on relapse prevention. Addiction is not a choice, but a disease. Many individuals turn to substances to cope with other mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma. Together, we will identify patterns and triggers that contribute to addiction and work toward creating structure and a personalized relapse prevention plan.
If you’re feeling stuck, anxious, depressed, or caught in cycles that no longer serve you, you don’t have to face it alone. Calling a therapist may feel intimidating, but therapy doesn’t have to be painful. Jillian is known for providing a supportive, nonjudgmental, laid-back, and safe space, offering humor where appropriate. The therapeutic process begins with building rapport to empower you and boost motivation while exploring your experiences, strengths, triggers, coping skills, and barriers. Jillian helps clients become aware of—and challenge—unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviors to improve mood and manage life’s challenges.
Clients can expect to gain practical skills and coping strategies for everyday life. Many describe valuing the ability to “get real” and grow through Jillian’s approach. Her philosophy is that every breath is a chance to start again.
Jillian Outside of the Office
In her spare time, Jillian enjoys spending time with friends, loved ones, and her dogter, Lila. Her favorite self-care activities include going to concerts, traveling, kayaking, cooking, and experimenting with different types of mocktails and coffees.
